Members of the newsroom unit of the Denver Newspaper Guild can vote Friday on the tentative contract agreement with The Denver Post.
On April 9, the bargaining committee of the newsroom unit reached a tentative agreement with the company. The language of the tentative agreement has since been approved by the national union.
Members can vote to ratify the contract on Friday, May 1, from noon-1 p.m. and from 4-5 p.m. in the 10th floor cafeteria area.
The new language, which would be binding through Feb. 27, 2016, includes a longer posting/notification period for work schedules, as well as changes to the drug and alcohol policy involving marijuana. The company rejected several Guild proposals, including any economic gains.
A PDF of the changes is attached to this email.
The tentative agreement is basically an extension of the current contract. The bargaining committee endorses a “yes” vote.
Members are urged to vote Friday. Those who can’t vote on Friday can vote early, Wednesday and Thursday, casting a ballot at Kieran Nicholson’s desk.
Guild Newsroom Bargaining Committee: Kieran Nicholson, LeAnna Efird, Allen Daniel, Joey Bunch, Kevin Hamm and Emilie Rusch.
